The ConvaTec Eakin Cohesive® Seal Barrier Ring – Small (839002) is a flexible, moldable hydrocolloid ring designed to prevent leaks and protect sensitive peristomal skin. Known commonly as an Eakin ring, this 2-inch seal fills dips and creases in uneven skin surfaces, helping create a secure and customized fit around the stoma.
Ideal for ileostomies, colostomies, urostomies, and fistulas, Eakin Cohesive Seals 839002 can be shaped to fit irregular contours, forming a gel-like barrier that protects skin from corrosive output and helps extend pouch wear time. These small Eakin rings are thicker than Eakin Slims (839005), offering added absorption and gentle convexity—especially helpful for flush or retracted stomas.
Each ring is individually wrapped for convenience, and a scoop-free, easy-to-mold design makes application quick and simple for both patients and caregivers.
Who Should Use Eakin Coehesive 839002:
- For ostomy patients needing added skin protection
- Used with ileostomies, colostomies, and urostomies
- Helps seal and protect areas with uneven, scarred, or recessed skin
- Useful for high-output stomas and fistulae
- Can provide a soft convex effect (not a substitute for convex appliances)
How to Apply Eakin Cohesive Rings
1. Ensure the skin is clean, dry, and oil-free.
2. Warm the ring between your hands to make it more pliable.
3. Peel off the release paper from both sides.
4. Mold, stretch, or compress the ring to fit your stoma or wound. Cut and rejoin if needed.
5. Apply to skin with gentle pressure, holding for about 30 seconds.
6. Smooth the ring toward the base of the stoma or edge of the wound for a full seal.
7. Apply your pouching system directly on top and press to secure.
How to Remove Eakin Rings:
1. Gently peel off the ostomy pouch.
2. Remove the Eakin Seal from skin—it won’t cause harm or pain.
3. Roll or peel off any residue; adhesive remover can help remove stickiness.
